Nutella Thumbprint Cookies

A fun and chocolatey twist on classic thumbprint cookies.

Ingredients:


  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts or pecans (finely chopped)

  • 1/4 cup Nutella (or any hazelnut spread)


Directions:


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, & milk, mixing until fully incorporated.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.

  6. Roll the dough into balls, then gently roll each ball in chopped hazelnuts or pecans.

  7. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. Make an indentation in the center of each dough ball with your thumb or a measuring spoon.

  9. Use a spoon or piping bag to fill each indentation with Nutella.

  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly firm.

  11. Let the cookies cool completely.
