Thumbprint Cookies

A merry, melt-in-your-mouth cookie with a bright jam center. Fun to make and perfect for any Holiday celebration!

Ingredients:


  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg yolk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup jam


Directions:


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.

  4. Whisk together the flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add it to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

  5. Roll the balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.

  6. Make an indentation in the center of each dough ball with your thumb.

  7. Fill each indentation with jam.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden.

  9. Let the cookies cool completely.
